Money quotes for normal families.

So today while I was spending all my time on the internet. (Joe made that comment about me staying home.... we all know the truth.) I found this quote in an article about what watching TV can teach us about money.

"Yes, money has been a little bit tight lately. But, at the end of my life, when I'm sitting on my yacht, am I going to be thinking about how much money I have? No. I'm going to be thinking about how many friends I have. And my children. And my comedy albums. I mean, I have a yacht, so I obviously did pretty well, money-wise." -- Michael Scott

I love it! As gas, groceries, utilities, etc. rise this is the truth. We need to remember that we are still young and are raising young children too. I remind myself of this often. Here is another classic.

Cliff: So how much do you expect to make a week for "regular people"?

Theo: $250.

Cliff: (pointing to the bed) Sit down. I will give you $300 a week. $1,200 a month. (Cliff hands the money to Theo)

Theo: I'll take it!

Cliff: And I will take $350 for taxes.

Theo: Whoa!

Cliff: Oh, yeah. See, the government goes for the regular people first. So, how much does that leave you with?

Theo: $850.

Cliff: OK, now you'll need an apartment because you are NOT living here. Now an apartment in Manhattan will run you at least $400 a month. (Cliff takes $400)

Theo: I'll live in New Jersey. (Theo takes back $200)

Cliff: Now you'll need a car. (Cliff takes $300)

Theo: I'll drive a motorbike. (Theo takes back $100)

Cliff: You're gonna need a helmet. (Cliff takes $50) Now figure $100 a month for clothes and shoes.

Theo: Figure $200. I wanna look GOOD.

Cliff: So, how much does that leave you with?

Theo: $200. So, no problem.

Cliff: There IS a problem! You haven't EATEN yet! (Cliff takes $100)

Theo: I can get by on bologna and cereal. (Theo takes back his $100) So I've got everything under control PLUS $200 left for the month

Cliff: You plan to have a girlfriend?

Theo: For sure.

(Cliff takes the remaining $200)
Cliff: (pointing at Theo's empty hand): Regular people.

That was a good show.

# 1 use for a storage bin...

So I was in desperate need to get the dishes done; they were overflowing the double sink and well onto the counter tops on either side, not to mention the ones that were still on the dinner table. My lovely baby girls love to "help" me. The babies help is not the kind that actually helps just makes things worse. If it wasn't such a big task I would say what the heck help all you want, but this is the way that I found they could entertain themselves while I got some work done.

God is Great, sometimes just in the 'nic of time!

Ok as many of you know we have been in a real pickle when it came to our vehicle issues. 4 years ago before the last 2 kiddos we leased my car. Great for us at that time, but here we are at the end of those four years with 3 kids squeezed into the back seat of an Altima. Have I mentioned too that we hit a really hard time between Lilly and Caitlin with almost 6 mos. of no income so our credit stinks! Anyways we have been praying hard and consistently that God would do his will. We had to give over all control. We are at the last 2 weeks of the lease and the first vehicle that we looked at sat on the lot for almost forever and they dropped the price we got sooo excited. We finally got everything in order and went to purchase it and guess what... they sold it. CRAZY people didn't they know eventually we would be back? So we start over, ugh! We searched the Internet far and wide and we found it. It was perfect except for the syringe that was sitting in the dash, but they sold that one while we were working out the financing. So now what? Needless to say I was a little put out with the whole car shopping thing and I love to shop. After dinner Friday night I just put the idea that maybe we should stop at this little dealership on the way home. Wincing thinking Joe was not going to go for it, we had the 2 babies and it was getting late and Saturday would've just been easier, but he says, "ok!" So to make a long story short we got the car. It is so nice I am impressed and God worked in amazing ways. First of all on a used car we got it $4000 off asking price, second we got financed with a payment we can actually afford, third the insurance is only an $8 increase and fourth we did not have to drive the altima past the lease date we are getting to drop it off tonight. So here it is.

Growing up is so hard to do.

I did finally get some pictures of Natalie. These are from her Valentine's Day party at school. Oh how I love those parties! Natalie is really growing up, I find myself just in tears as I realize that she starts the 5th grade next fall. My baby is not a baby anymore. As we are doing our "Spring/Summer" shopping with Memaw she starts getting so excited about this Jonas Brothers t-shirt. She has started having the crushes on the boy bands! All I could think of was New Kids on The Block. Kevin is her favorite. One of the fun things about her getting older is she actually likes to talk to me about boys, shopping, you know the girl stuff.
Of course as I type this about Natalie being girly and growing up I am currently being covered in Sesame Street stick on earrings. Melmo is the house favorite, although I am a little partial to Oscar and Cookie Monster. Thank goodness for DVR, it gets us through many days! I think we watch Memlo 4 or 5 times a day. Atleast we are fading out of The Wiggles. Beyond the stick on earrings that she thinks are just fun little stickers Lilly is all tomboy! This week at our playdate that out of 7 kids only has 3 girls Lilly was by far the dirtiest! (Mandy I need those pics.) She started out so pretty with a ponytail and her pink fleece suit that she got for Christmas by 1:00 she was covered in mulch pieces from head to toe and the sleeves to her shirt was soaked from dunking grill tools into a bucket of the "funnest" water ever. I have no idea what happened to the pony tail holder or the Barbie that she came with. Poor Barbie she would have drowned if Lilly remembere she had her. Caitlin just sat there and ate rocks watching her big sister have the best time of her life. Thank you for playdates! She is looking through the fence at our backyard neighbors dog that wouldn't stop barking the whole time we were out there.

Ok now the car update..... we'll see. That's it. God is in control, I just have to remind myself of that daily.
